Mr Green review: strong safer-gambling tools, two regulator fines and a lobby to match

Mr Green builds its pitch on Green Gaming limits and breaks. We read the help centre, the regulator fines and third-party reviews to see whether the casino behind the tools earns a place on a UK shortlist.

Our verdict

Mr Green has some of the clearest limit tools of any UK casino we read about, with deposit limits, loss limits, activity checks and timed breaks laid out in its help centre. The casino behind them is a large, ordinary lobby, and the brand has two Gambling Commission penalties on file for safer-gambling failures. Good on tools, average elsewhere.

Best for: UK players who want limits and breaks built into their casino

A casino can have good limit tools and still have a poor record of using them on its own customers. Mr Green is a fair test of that idea. It leads with Green Gaming, its set of controls for limits and breaks, and it also has two Gambling Commission penalties for safer-gambling failures. We weighed both, plus the lobby that sits behind them.

A note on method. Mr Green's own UK pages refuse access from outside Britain and showed us a "services unavailable" notice, so we read its help centre (which opens from anywhere), its App Store listing and independent reviews. We did not open a UK account, and nothing here claims a deposit or cash-out of ours.

The tools, as the help centre describes them

The Green Gaming Tools section opens with questions such as "What kind of tools does Mr Green offer?" and "I feel that I play too much, what can I do?", which is the right way round for an operator.

What the pages describe:

  • Deposit limit: daily, weekly or monthly caps, and you can run more than one at once. The deposit limit article shows an example: a daily maximum of €100, then €50 and €40 deposited, leaves €10 until the period resets.
  • Loss limit: caps net losses from deposits, ignores winnings, and blocks play once reached.
  • Activity check: a reminder of time spent on site.
  • Take a break: locks the account for 1 day, 2 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month or 6 weeks, stopping deposits, play and withdrawal requests.
  • Self-exclusion: Casinos.com lists a minimum of six months, up to five years or indefinitely.

The change rules are the best part. Accounts carry no limits by default, lowering a limit applies at once, and raising or removing one waits 24 hours. Past play counts toward a new limit. That 24-hour wait is the control that stops a heated moment from undoing a sensible decision.

OLBG adds that Green Gaming "collects data from your play" to calculate behaviour, with a self-assessment quiz. Tools that you set yourself are only half of safer gambling. For a UK-wide stop, GAMSTOP blocks access to all licensed UK sites at once, and it is free.

The regulator record

Two penalties sit against the Mr Green Limited name. In February 2020 the Gambling Commission fined it £3m after finding weak procedures to prevent harm and money laundering, including a customer who won £50,000, lost it and kept depositing, with no safer-gambling interaction. Coverage in Gambling Insider places those failings before William Hill bought the company.

In March 2023, Mr Green Limited was named in a £19.2m William Hill group package, reported by Ellis Jones at around £3.7m for the Mr Green entity. Sources round that figure two ways (£3.7m and £3.75m). Mr Green said earlier failings had since been addressed with new processes. Two fines in three years is a history, and the tools above are partly the answer to it.

The casino behind the tools

Counts vary by reviewer. OLBG says "2,000 games and 100+ live tables" with NetEnt, Microgaming, IGT and in-house exclusives; Casinos.com's stats list 536 casino games (455 slots, 62 live) from 35 developers. Both can be true if one counts all brand variants. Payments: seven methods including debit cards, PayPal, Skrill and Neteller, a £10 minimum, 1% fees on some withdrawals and 3.9% on one deposit method. OLBG lists most withdrawals as instant, others as one to three working days.

Wagering needs care. The help centre states a "standard wagering requirement" of 35x unless an offer says otherwise, but that text uses euro examples and reads like the international page. UK bonuses have been capped at 10x since 19 January 2026, per Casinos.com. A welcome offer there lists doubling a £20+ deposit up to £100 plus 100 free spins; read the live terms before opting in.

The app listing is solid but not spotless: 4.4 from about 3,000 ratings, with a few reviews on delayed withdrawals and games that fail to load. That listing is Denmark's, so it speaks to the app, not UK service.

Who it suits

Mr Green suits a UK player who wants limits and breaks set before the first spin, and a lobby that does not make you hunt for the big names. It is a weaker pick for anyone choosing mainly on regulatory history, where a spotless record would be the better default.

Use the tools, because the house edge always applies and no limit makes a casino profitable. Set a deposit limit first, treat any bonus as a restriction, and never play with money meant for bills. If it stops being a pastime, use GAMSTOP or call the National Gambling Helpline.

Rating

We give Mr Green 7.1 out of 10: top marks for tooling, middle marks for the casino, and a deduction for the two fines.
