tombola review: 1p bingo and a big app, with a 2025 regulator fine on file
tombola sells UK bingo from 1p a ticket and its iOS app has 66,000 ratings. We checked the listing, the Gambling Commission register and independent write-ups to see if it is the safe pick for casual players.
Our verdict
tombola is a well-liked UK bingo site with genuinely cheap entry: bingo from 1p, a 100% first-deposit match up to £50 and an iOS app rated 4.7 from 66,000 ratings. It is not a clean sheet. The Gambling Commission fined its licensee £184,500 in July 2025 over consent and self-exclusion rules, and published payout times conflict.
Best for: Casual UK bingo players who want low ticket prices and a busy community

Cheap tickets are tombola's whole argument, and on that point it holds up. Whether that makes it the safest pick for casual bingo players is less clear, because the regulator's register has something to say about it too. A note on method: we did not fund an account for this review. We worked from the App Store listing, the Gambling Commission's public record, Flutter's history page and two independent write-ups, and we flag where those disagree.
The low-price case
The UK App Store description promises "bingo games from only 1p" and slots from 5p. In plain terms, a session of low-priced rooms can run for a long time on a small balance. That is the appeal for someone who plays for the chat and the routine rather than the jackpot.
The app is rated 4.7 from 66,000 ratings, runs at version 6.26.1 and weighs 68.6 MB. It lists live chat support around the clock, safeplay tools for spending control, a dark mode and Apple Pay, with £5 deposits allowed from your second deposit.
What the listing offers, and what other sites say
The welcome terms in the App Store footnote are a 100% match up to £50 on a first deposit of £10 or more, plus free spins. Casino.org instead describes 200% up to £50 and a £25 example that becomes £50. Both cannot be right on the same day, so read the live terms before you deposit.

Casino.org also says bonus money works only on certain games, and that Tombola Arcade titles are made in-house. That in-house claim is the closest we found to confirmation of the "own software" angle. It is a reviewer's statement, not a technical audit. Other details on that page contradict themselves, including the founding year, so we have used it sparingly.
There is a free route too. The listing describes a Free for All game with daily bonuses and a weekly shot at up to £1,000 cash, and fixed jackpots up to £20,000.
Who the cheap tickets suit
A 1p ticket sounds trivial, and for one game it is. The risk is volume. Bingo rooms run back to back, chat rooms are friendly and the next game starts in minutes, so small stakes add up over an evening in exactly the way a single large bet does not. Set a budget in pence per session before you open the app, not after your third top-up.
The listing's "Simulated Gambling" and "Contests" flags, together with in-game chat and messaging, describe a product built around staying in the room. That is not a criticism of tombola in particular. It is how social bingo works, and the reason low prices are not the same thing as low risk.
The regulator's file
Here is why "safest" needs a pause. On 21 July 2025 the Gambling Commission decided a financial penalty of £184,500 on Tombola (International) Plc under section 121(1) of the Gambling Act 2005.

The breaches were of social responsibility code provisions on direct electronic consent and on self-exclusion. The Commission called the failings isolated and credited the licensee's immediate remedial action and cooperation. That context matters. It also matters that self-exclusion is the safety net for the people who need it most, so a lapse there is not trivial.
Ownership is stable: Flutter Entertainment's history page lists the acquisition of Tombola in January 2022, which puts it in the same group as Paddy Power, Betfair and Sky Betting & Gaming.

Payouts: ignore the single number
Casino.org's at-a-glance table says one to two days, while its text says customers report three to five days. The regulator has its own view of the industry. In its published position on withdrawals it said data from large operators shows around 99% of requests are paid within 20 to 48 hours, and it was reviewing complaints after more than 6,000 consumer calls in a year.

We cannot give you a tested tombola cash-out time, and we will not invent one. Plan on a couple of working days, request small withdrawals first and keep your ID ready.
Verdict
Choose tombola if you want a low-stakes bingo habit, you like a community-led site and you are comfortable that the fine was a past, remedied problem. Look elsewhere if you want one unambiguous welcome offer or documented payout times. Bingo is entertainment that costs money. If your play is getting bigger than you planned, use the deposit limits and self-exclusion tools, or contact GamCare on 0808 8020 133.
